Academician | Author | Ambassador, UN SDGs
I have been working for more than a decade in the Fashion and Textile Industry wherein I have played many roles like Merchandiser, Designer, Researcher, and Debut Author of a book “Textile Recycling- Creating a new industry” and Currently working as a Design Facilitator with INIFD, Hyderabad.
As an Educator, I believe that art-based learning process is helpful to nurture a learner in a successful manner. It gives potential in thinking process and to achieve the same, I practice and emphasize more on experimental teaching.
My purpose as an academician is to give a holistic education in Design, so that people are more aware about the purpose of their work, towards the community as well as towards the environment. I’m savvy in teaching Design skills like Indian embroidery, Fashion styling, Garment construction as well as very well versed in Dyeing and Printing techniques.
As a Fashion Designer, I worked with clothing brands and have been working with Personal clients. My philosophy is “Personalized Perfection according to one’s body type, I’m pioneering Indian silhouette by giving them a twist of style and comfort, emphasizing more on Indian art and Embroidery, mostly using hand woven and sustainable fabric.
I’m passionate to work for community as well as for women’s empowerment & their upliftment. I work with demeanor and collaborative spirit for creating awareness about Textile Recycling for a sustainable future. I have presented a lot of research papers, articles, and presentations on National and International platforms. Also taken up some innovative moves like awareness campaigns, live presentations, webinars to promote sustainability in design through Textile Recycling and Upscaling.
